Phyllis Long

Executive Director, Co-Founder

About Me

Phyllis Vokey Long has served as the Co-founder,Executive Director and Clinical Supervisor for the New Day Women’s Center (NDWC) for the past seven years. She earned her A.A. degree in Business at Victor Valley College, her B.A. degree in Human Development from Christian Heritage College and her M.A. degree in Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT) from Bethel Seminary. She is also a member of the California Association of Marriage Family Therapists (CAMFT).

Phyllis has worked as a LMFT in since 2006. Prior to that, she served as Program Director in a variety of non-profit entities, to include 20 years in Child Development Centers and Programs, certified as a Child Development Specialist; four years as an Adjunct Professor at Southwestern College, SDSU and Bethel Seminary; and seven years as Supervisor for MFT associates at the NDWC, in addition to leading support groups, Bible Studies and therapy groups for the Center.

She has been involved with a variety of organizations and church ministries in the start -up and development of leadership opportunities to include Women’s Ministries, Singles Ministries and Seminars. She is a graduate of the Leadership Academy of the East County Chamber of Commerce and currently serves as a mentor and trainer for women’s ministries. In addition,Phyllis has served as a church leader for a variety of women’s Bible studies and workshops.

Phyllis’ heart for God’s service has led her to volunteer and partner with several organizations to include a number of churches, a parent advisory committee for a Child Development Center, the San Diego Rescue Mission, and as a member of the Board of Directors for CAPS Pregnancy Clinics and Professional Christian Women’s Connection (PCWC).

What I like about PCWC

I love connecting with like minded women - leaders who integrate their faith with their profession. We get to share our victories and challenges, pray for one another and encourage each other in small groups. I always go away with new ideas and fresh perspectives.
